English: 415 Boren Avenue N., Seattle, Washington, USA, the former C.B. Van Vorst building. See Article on 415 Boren Avenue N. on the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods site. Originally built in 1909 by the estate of James Colman, it was designed by the prominent firm of Graham & Myers (John Graham, Sr. and David J. Myers) for use as a horse stable for the delivery fleet of the Frederick & Nelson department store. After the rise of the automobile the warehouse continued to be used by F&N as a furniture warehouse until 1940, when the building was leased from the Colman Company by the newly established Seattle branch of the C.B. Van Vorst Company, a Los Angeles-based furniture manufacturer who would use this building and a 1956 annex to manufacture the Van Vorst brand of mattresses (Seattle Times, June 2, 1940, p11). Van Vorst closed the factory in 1983 and the building remained vacant for decades, occasionally being used as a haunted house during Halloween. Designated a city landmark in 2000, In 2008, the rear portion of the building was removed; the remainder of the building was gutted, renovated and repurposed as part of the campus of Amazon.com. It is now known as Van Vorst Plaza.
