The Chinatown YWCA was designed by Julia Morgan and built in 1932. The Clay Street Center has two entrances: 965 Clay Street and 940 Powell Street. The Powell entrance is for The YWCA Apartments, federally subsidized housing for the elderly and disabled. The Clay entrance leads to the museum and library of the Chinese Historical Society of America.
