Since I am discouraged from editing the project page now that the deletion request has been closed, I guess I have to post this here (users below have been notified of this discussion):

  1. Polarlys asks, "Who is the person in the photo?" — Which part of COM:SCOPE or other policy calls for this criterion to be considered when assessing a deletion request?
  2. Denniss deleted the photo — Given that I questioned all three reasons put forth for why this image should be deleted, I'm wondering: which one(s) did you base your deletion decision on?

I am concerned that some users are getting a little deletion-happy when it comes to recent uploads. Can you two please explain to me how the deletion of this image conforms to our current policies? (BTW, for the record, I had nothing to do with the production or uploading of this image.) - dcljr (talk) 22:02, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Commons:SCOPE#Must_be_realistically_useful_for_an_educational_purpose --Polarlys (talk) 21:11, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If that's why it should be deleted, then don't just say "unused, personal file, see COM:SCOPE" — instead, say something like "no realistic educational use". In order for the merits of a nomination to be properly discussed, it must clearly state what's wrong with the image. - dcljr (talk) 06:23, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
