English: The metre was originally defined in 1791 as being 1/10,000,000 of the distance from the North Pole to the Equator through Paris, making the kilometer 1/10,000 of this distance.[1] Français : Le mètre a été défini à l'origine en 1791 comme étant 1/10 000 000 de la distance du pôle Nord à l'équateur en passant par Paris, ce qui fait du kilomètre 1/10 000 de cette distance.[1] |
