Description |
"Labyrinth of the mind", by Erik Pevernagie, (100 x 100 cm) , Oil on canvas.
How things are experienced in our environment and how they react in the arsenal of our imagination makes a torrent of inspiring ideas flood our brains' speedy highways. The brain absorbs all the phenomena of our daily life. It constructs a maze of countless corridors that run through our minds and opens numerous unconscious wishes and subdued desires. Giving an abstract representation of the phenomena we encounter in life is an illustration of "phenomenological painting." By letting things come with a Heideggerian releasement, with a Chinese attitude of Wu-Wei, with a spirit of "let it be, let it be" of the Beatles, all the elements in the labyrinth of our mind eventually fall into place. By assembling in our mind the essential facts we have lived through and by reviewing, appraising, or sometimes idealizing the numerous critical points of the past, authenticity may gradually mutate and actuality decay at last. At that moment, we are to experience a maimed factuality. We can develop a comprehensive pattern of our identity that throws a whirl of light on the secreted framework of our life if we make a fly-on-the-wall review of our history and connect the significant scenarios from our memory. Supplying correct information and providing adequate tools to restructure the eroded parts in the people's minds should be a primary condition for a well-oiled society. Fine-tuning the factuality and accuracy of issues is a paramount civic duty of each responsible individual.
