I've spent a ridiculous amount of time just trying to work out what kind of costume I wanted for this little girl bear. For all that thinking and designing and work, the set came out very simple looking (but sweet, I think). I'll stage better photos tomorrow when I have light, and my backdrop set up... but I love her so much, I was itching to take some finished photos. This is "Stinkerbell". She's 9 inches tall (standing height), handsewn in fully lined alpaca (the outfit is machine sewn, obviously). She has Ultrasuede paw pads, with sculpted toes and heel. She's weighted to nearly 2 pounds with stainless steel grit in the arms and legs, and copper-coated steel shot in a pouch in the belly. The nose is embroidered with Pearl Cotton, and sealed with beeswax. She was handshaded with oil paints. Her outfit consists of a corset top with eyelets/drawstrings in the back, and two gear-type buttons in the front. Her skirt is tulle with lace trim. The wings are hand-dyed cotton fabric, powdered with pearl ex, and covered in shimmery tulle (for the scaly butterfly look). I just love her! :D I toyed with the idea of giving her a little aviator cap made with ultra suede leather, but I don't know if that's just TOO much. Sometimes I love "too much" though. :D |
