[edit]Description'Ban The Bomb' Leggings - North Greenwich - July 2012.jpg |
English: After having enjoyed the flight to and from the Royal Victoria Docks and the Ex Cel Centre it was time to relax with a cup of Costa coffee. Very refreshing but not relaxing as a constant stream of beautiful and fascinating young women walked past our table and my lens.
This young girl caught my eye because of the CND symbol on her leggings. The symbol dates from the 1950s when the 'Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament' (CND) was formed. They used to march from Aldermaston, ( near Newbury, where we lived for 25 years) which was home to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, the 50 miles to London and the Houses of Parliament. I took this picture as much for the 3 members of the local Labour Party who actually did those marches as for her sylph-like shape. Well worth it on both accounts. |
