English: A proposed Australian national flag design as chosen by the Flag Society of Australia (https://flagsaustralia.com.au/) for inclusion on its 'Designs for a new flag' webpage at https://flagsaustralia.com.au/designsnewflag.html. The design incorporates the Commonwealth Star, the kangaroo, and the Southern Cross, three of the major symbols of Australia. The colours in the design have been rendered as graphic near-equivalents of the official Pantone values for the red and the gold in the Australian Aboriginal Flag, the green in the Torres Strait Islander Flag, the ochre in the Flag of the Northern Territory, and the blue in the current Australian national flag. The sunburst is based on the Rising Sun slouch hat badge of the Australian Army, its sixteen major rays representing all of the states and territories of the Commonwealth. This is a highly symbolic and inclusive design, one that has been directly inspired by Tracey Mee’s 2018 doctoral thesis, "Australian National Identity: Somewhere Between the Flags?"
