Description
English: The city hall of Turku, Finland, built in 1736. It was badly damaged in the Great Fire of Turku 1827, and a new building was erected on its place. It is the new building that is today called "the old city hall".
Svenska: Platsen där det nuvarande Gamla Rådhuset i Åbo ligger har med största sannolikhet varit stadens administrativa centrum sedan 1300-talet. Enligt Åbo stads historia fullbordades år 1736 ett nytt rådhus med tillhörande klocktorn enligt Samuel Berners ritningar.

Rådhusets officiella invigning hölls den 6.10.1736. I magistratens protokoll omtalas inte några andra festligheter, men räkenskapar av Esaias Wechter, som övervakade byggnadsarbetet, visar att man efter den officiella högtidligheten höll ett gästabud där "tractamentet" steg till sammanlagt 999 daler och tio skilling koppar. I summan ingick 3,5 ankare gammalt rhenvin, 4,5 kannor "Puarder" och tre kannor "Pontack"-rödvin; vidare arvodet till fyra musikanter och deras ledare, pipor och tobak för stadsvakten och en mängd ljus.

Byggnaden skadades emellertid svårt i Åbo brand år 1827. I dess ställe byggdes ett nytt privathus, som senare omvandlades till ett fabriksbyggnad i tre våningar. Sedan år 1932 har utrymmena åter varit i stadens ägo, och de har fungerat bl. a. som polisinrättningens byrå och under de senaste åren som kulturutrymmen och festsal.
