English: Skeins of seashell money like this serve as a monetary unit in the round of trade, also used as the bride's prize for marriage-related transactions. They can also be used as adornment for women and men during ritual ceremonies. This skein of shell money was presented to Pierre Maranda on one of his departures from Solomon Islands.
