Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This photograph shows the stone that arrived at Tikhvin Monastery on an ice floe in 1820 as a sign from God that an addition to the temple in honor of the prophet Ilii was to be made at this location. Orthodox monks placed an icon of the holy prophet Ilii right above the stone. According to popular beliefs, the stone grants wishes and is able to cure diseases. Folks call the stone a magical stone of wishes, a stone of healing or a holy stone. The magic stone is in the Russian Christian Orthodox Tihvinskom Bogorodice-Uspenskom monastery. The photo was taken by me in the Leningrad region of Russia, the city of Tikhvin.
