Українська: Рід Магнолія (Magnolia L) родини Магнолієві (Magnoliaceae Juss.,1789).

Вічнозелені або листопадні дерева або чагарники. Кора попелясто-сіра або коричнева, гладка, луската або борозенчаста. Пагони з великими листовими рубцями та вузькими кільцеподібними рубцями від прилистків. Квітки багатьох видів адаптовані для запилення жуками, зокрема, маточки таких квіток здатні до запилення вже в бутоні, а після розкриття квітки втрачають цю здатність, жуки можуть проникати в квітку до її розкриття і брати участь в запиленні.

За красою листя, квітів та оригінальності плодів магнолії представляють дуже декоративні дерева і чагарники, що використовуються поодиноко, в групах і для алей. Найбільш популярна магнолія Суланжа - виведений у Франції культурний гібрид магнолій лілієцвітної та оголеної.

Evergreen or deciduous trees or shrubs. The bark is ash gray or brown, smooth, scaly or furrowed. Shoots with large leaf scars and narrow annular scars from stipules. The flowers of many species are adapted for pollination by beetles, in particular, the stigmas of the pistils of such flowers are capable of pollination already in the bud, and after the flower opens, they lose this ability, the beetles can penetrate the flower before it opens and participate in pollination.

In terms of the beauty of their leaves, flowers and the originality of their fruits, magnolias are highly ornamental trees and shrubs used singly, in groups and for avenues. The most popular saucer magnolia is a cultivated hybrid o lily magnolia and yulan magnolia, bred in France.
