Unio sp. is a species of freshwater bivalve mollusk of the family Unionidae, a typical filter species. At the rear end of the breathing siphon is covered with numerous cilia.
Перлівниця – вид прісноводних двостулкових молюсків родини уніонід (Unionidae), типовий вид-фільтратор. На задньому кінці розташований дихальний сифон, вкритий багаточисельними війками.

Українська: Перлівниця мешкає на замуленому та піщаному дні річок, озер та ставків. Ця малорухома тварина живиться пасивно. Їжею для перлівниці слугують частки детриту, які знаходяться в товщі води (найдрібніші залишки рослин та тварин). Молюск відфільтровує їх з води, яка проходить через мантійну порожнину. В задній частині обидві стулки мушлі та мантійні складки не прилягають щільно одна до одної, між ними залишаються два отвори – сифони. Нижній, ввідний сифон слугує для введення в мантійну порожнину води. Безперервний направлений потік води здійснюється завдяки руху багаточисельних війок. Вода омиває зябра та забезпечує газообмін, в ній же містяться поживні частинки. Через верхній, вивідний сифон використана вода разом з екскрементами виводиться назовні
English: Unio sp. lives on the silted and sandy bottom of rivers, lakes and ponds. This inactive animal feeds passively. Toothless food is suspended in water particles of detritus (the smallest remains of plants and animals). The mollusk filters them out of the water passing through the mantle cavity. In the posterior part, both shell valves and mantle folds do not adhere tightly to one another; between them there are two holes - siphons. The lower, inlet, siphon serves to introduce water into the mantle cavity. A continuous directed flow of water is carried out due to the movement of numerous cilia. Water washes the gills and provides gas exchange; it also contains food particles.
