Фаза бутонізації L. tulipifera розпочинається в першій декаді травня при сумі ефективних температур 259,4°С. Кожен бутон L. tulipifera захищений парою брактеол (приквітників), які захищають його від пошкоджень в період активного росту. Проміжок часу від початку бутонізації до початку цвітіння становить в середньому 24 доби. Початок цвітіння спостерігається при сумі ефективних температур 534,1°С. Для L. tulipifera характерний тривалий період цвітіння, який в середньому становить чотири–п’ять тижнів. Кожна квітка зберігає декоративність близько одного тижня, на зміну відцвівших квіток з’являються нові.
