Кирпичная церковь, построенная на средства царской казны и княгини А. В. Черкасской на месте гибели царевича Димитрия. В 1606, после канонизации царевича, место было отмечено часовней, разрушенной в 1609 при разорении города поляками и позднее восстановленной. В 1630 по указу царя Михаила Феодоровича построена деревянная церковь. В 1637 началось возведение каменного храма - был построен нижний этаж с Архангельской церковью. Строительство продолжилось в кон. 1680-х и завершилось в 1692. Была построена двухэтажная четырёхчастная церковь с двухсветной храмовой частью, завершённой пятиглавием. С востока к храму примыкает апсида алтаря, с запада - трапезная и паперть, над которой возвышается шатровая колокольня. С севера первоначально примыкала галерея, которую в 1860-1861 заменили приделом Ярославских Чудотворцев Федора, Давида и Константина, и царевича Димитрия, сооружённым на средства купцов В. А. Пивоварова и М. А. Хорхорина для размещения походной церкви Угличской дружины, отправившейся в 1855 на Крымскую войну. Храм закрыт в 1924, передан Угличскому музею.
