| Description |
English: Shrovetide is an Eastern Slavic traditional holiday celebrated during the week before Lent.
The date of Maslenitsa changes every year depending on the date of the celebration of Easter. The traditional attribute of the holiday is the effigy of Maslenitsa. Forgiveness Sunday, the last day of Maslenitsa week, is widely celebrated. The culmination of the entire Maslenitsa is the burning of an effigy on Sunday. This action symbolizes the farewell to winter and the onset of spring. On this day, people arrange fairs, tea parties with bagels, rolls and pancakes, play folk games, dance, sing folk songs and, finally, burn an effigy, dreaming that all the bad things that happened in life will burn with it. The festival attracts not only adults but also children.Русский: Ма́сленица — восточнославянский традиционный праздник, отмечаемый в течение недели перед Великим постом.
Дата Масленицы меняется каждый год в зависимости от даты празднования Пасхи. Традиционный атрибут праздника — чучело Масленицы. Широко отмечается Прощеное воскресенье- последний день Масленичной недели. Кульминацией всей Масленицы считается сжигание чучела в воскресенье. Это действие символизирует проводы зимы и наступление весны. В этот день люди устраивают ярмарки, чаепития с бубликами, калачами и блинами, играют в народные игры, водят хороводы , поют народные песни и, наконец сжигали чучело, мечтая, чтобы вместе с ним сгорело все плохое, что было в жизни.К проведению фольклорного праздника привлекаются не только взрослые но и дети.
