English: Also known as the Thiruvannamalai Temple and the Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar Temple, it is one of the panchayats of Lord Shiva. It is one of the most popular sites for the Devarabh song. [1] It is a proud place of being one of the Thiruvachakas. The origin of this site is known as Arunachaleswara and Ambika fasting.
The land is known as the four quarters of Upper, Sundarar, Sambandar and Mansavasakar. Though Lord Shiva is the originator of this site, Arunagiri Nadar sings on Lord Murugan. The Saivites believe that the mountain is immortal in all ages and that this mountain is Lord Shiva. Thus, they observe this hill. The trek to the mountain is called Grivalam.
தமிழ்: திருஅண்ணாமலையார் கோயில் என்றும் திருவண்ணாமலை அருணாசலேஸ்வரர் கோயில் என்றும் அறியப்படும் தலம் சிவபெருமானின் பஞ்சபூத தலங்களில் அக்னித் தலமாகும். இது தேவாரப் பாடல் பெற்ற தலங்களில் நடுநாட்டு தலங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். திருவாசகத் திருத்தலங்களில் ஒன்று என்ற பெருமையினையும் கொண்ட தலமாகும்.இத்தலத்தின் மூலவர் அருணாசலேசுவரர் என்றும், அம்பிகை உண்ணாமுலையாள் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.
இத்தலத்தினை நால்வர் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் அப்பர், சுந்தரர், சம்பந்தர், மாணிக்கவாசகர் ஆகியோர் தேவாரம் பதிகங்களை பாடியுள்ளார்கள். இத்தலத்தின் மூலவர் சிவபெருமான் என்றாலும், இங்குள்ள முருகன் மீது அருணகிரி நாதர் பாடல்களைப் பாடியுள்ளார். இத்தலத்தில் உள்ள மலை எல்லா யுகங்களிலும் அழியாமல் இருப்பதாகவும், இம்மலையானது சிவபெருமானே என்றும் சைவர்கள் நம்புகிறார்கள். இதனால் இம்மலையை வலம் வருதலை கடைபிடிக்கின்றனர். இவ்வாறு மலையை வலம் வருதல் கிரிவலம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
