Botanical name: Bacopa monnieri Tamil name : NIRPPIRAMMI ‘water brahmmi’ Sanskrit names: Brahmi; Indravalli; jalasaya . Kannada name : Jalabrahmi . 

Telugu: Sambrani chettu; Neeri sambraani mokka .

Flowering: May-October. This is a screeper bearing blue hued flowers ;Another variety of the same creeper bears white flowers ;Brahmi has antioxidant properties. It has been used to cure epilepsy, to increase memory power;It is useful to treat ulcer ; Functions as laxative;For treating spleen also it is used ; For leprosy it is used as medicine ; For leucoderma also it is handled as medicine ;As aphrodisiac it is recommended by traditional phusicians ; It is believed to cure anaemia; Useful medicinal plant for diarrhea ; As researches ,it is a storehouse of alkaloids like Herpestine, Brahmine etc., In shot - Side view of a flower is shown.

வேறு பெயர்கள் – தராய் ; பிரம்மி; பிரமியம் . இது கொடியாகும் ; வெள்ளைப்பூ நீர்ப்பிரம்மியும் உண்டு ; இரண்டுக்கும் குணங்கள் ஒன்றே; சிறுநீர் வெளியேறுவதில் சிக்கல் உள்ளோர்க்கு இதன் இலைச் சாறு மருந்தாகும்;இதன் இலைப் பொடியுடன் தேன் கலந்து சாப்பிட்டால் நினைவாற்றல் பெருகும் ;இலைக் கசாயம் நரம்புத் தளர்ச்சிக்கும் மலச் சிக்கலுக்கும் மருந்து;இதன் இலையை வெண்ணெய்யில் பொரித்து உண்டால் குரல் வளம் கிடைக்கும் என்பர் ; புற்றுநோய் தீர்க்கும் தன்மை இக் கொடிக்கு உண்டு என ஆய்ந்துள்ளனர் ;வயிற்றுப்புண் , காய்ச்சல் நோய் தீர்க்கும் மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுகிறது.
