ไทย: เจดีย์แดง เป็นปูชนียสถานตั้งอยู่กลางทุ่งนา หมู่บ้านไร่พะเนียด ตำบลบ้านหม้อ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ห่างจาก
ศาลากลางจังหวัดราว 6 กิโลเมตร ลักษณะของเจดีย์แดงมีฐานเป็นสี่เหลี่ยมใหญ่ย่อไม้ 12 ความสูงของเจดีย์วัดได้ 18.5 เมตร เป็นเจดีย์ ์ยังสร้างไม่เสร็จ มีผู้ประมาณว่าถ้าสร้างเสร็จสมบูรณ์คงจะสูงไม่น้อยกว่า 30 เมตร มูลเหตุการสร้างพระเจดีย์องค์นี้ไม่มีหลักฐานที่ชัดเจน และสร้างเมื่อปีใดไม่ปรากฏ สันนิษฐานกันเป็นหลายทาง เช่น ผู้สร้าง อาจเป็นพระมหากษัตริย์หรือเจ้าเมืองที่หยุดชะงักการสร้างเพราะหมดอำนาจวาสนา หรืออาจเป็นด้วยบ้านเมืองขณะนั้นเกิดยุคเข็ญต้องหนี ศึกสงคราม อีกทางหนึ่งสันนิษฐานว่าสมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมโกศโปรดให้สร้างขึ้น เพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติคราวเสด็จมาล้อมช้างป่าที่เมืองเพชร นอกจากนี้ยังมีประวัติการสร้างซึ่งเล่าเป็นตำนานเรื่องเดียวกับการสร้างปรางค์วัดมหาธาตุวรวิหารดังกล่าวแล้ว เจดีย์แดงเป็นเจดีย์ซึ่งพม่าหรือ มอญซึ่งเป็นข้าศึกเป็นผู้ก่อ แต่ก่อได้ช้ากว่าเจดีย์ของฝ่ายเจ้านครเพชรบุรี เมื่อเห็นยอดเจดีย์ในเมืองก่อสร้างเสร็จแล้วข้าศึกจึงยอมแพ้ ทิ้งเจดีย์ซึ่งยังสร้างไม่เสร็จไว้ ไม่ทันได้ถือปูนเห็นอิฐแดงอยู่ จึงเรียกกันทั่วไปว่าเจดีย์แดง
