中文（臺灣）：佐久間左馬太為日治時期臺灣的第五任總督，其任期為1906年（明治39年）至1915年（大正4年），佐久間總督於1914年（大正3年）在臺灣墜落斷崖，隔年不治逝世，享年71歲。1874年（明治7年），佐久間左馬太任職中佐時曾攻打牡丹社，於1898年（明治31）年晉升為大將。佐久間總督為歷任的臺灣總督中，在任最久的一位，其在任內推行「五年理蕃計畫」，曾發動近百次的武力行動，其中1914年（大正3年）開始的太魯閣戰役，是二十世紀臺灣本島最大的一場戰役。由於佐久間總督在太魯閣戰役的討伐有功，因此當地警察機關在此申請興建佐久間神社。本資料出自於《顧我洄瀾：花蓮歷史影像集》，此書由花蓮出身的葉柏強先生撰寫，是一本擁有大量歷史影像的書籍，於2016年（民國105年）出版，可以透過此書了解花蓮的城市變遷樣貌。 |
