中文（繁體）：臺中市役所建立於1911年，至今矗立超過百年。和中華民國同歲的它，見證了過去百年間，臺中市從一農田遍布的聚落，不斷蛻變成今日充滿蓬勃生氣與文化創造力的現代城市。
它是臺中第一棟鋼筋混凝土的建築，和臺中車站一樣是辰野式建築。臺中第一位市長（時稱市尹）金子惠教就是在此宣誓就任。 可以說，臺中市役所就是臺中市的正式誕生地。目前市役所採OT（營運-移轉）方式引進古典玫瑰園集團經營，一樓為營業空間、二樓以上為藝術中心，後方建物則改為日式餐館與文創商店。 在二樓通往昭和沙龍的走廊，可以看見市役所後方的一座建物，這棟兩層樓的磚造建築在日治時期為台中市公營當鋪。這座建築物磚牆上，可以看到一個圓形的圖案，圓中有圓。 這是臺中市的市徽，目前仍在使用中。1921年，臺中州廳舉辦公開評選，由台北鐵道公務課台職員中村與松所設計的此徽獲選為市徽。 上下兩個圓形分別代表「台」和「中」，簡單且富有意義。 |
