Description
日本語: 青色の地域はそれぞれ北が「奥訓練場」南が「川田訓練場」を表す。

米陸軍「奥訓練場」は米海兵隊の北部訓練場から北の海岸の奥集落まで、また「川田訓練場」は北部訓練場から東村川田の海岸の川田集落までを含んでいることがわかる。

<注> 青は「復帰後返還された米軍基地」とあるが、1971年に前倒して返還されており、その事情は、それぞれ沖縄返還協定了解覚書C表に記載された奥訓練場もA表に記載された川田訓練場も、実際にはほとんど使用実績がなく、非軍用地であったことで問題とされたためである。

「金武のキャンプ・ハンセン、名護のキャプ・シュワブの米軍キャンプを始め、東村ら国頭村へかけて県内でもっとも大きい基地北部訓練場など、本島北部の東海岸には広大な米軍基地が建設されました。キャンプ・シュワブの基地建設が始まった１９５７年、１３号線の宜野座村潟原より辺野古へのアスファルト舗装の直線道路が着されました。また、嘉陽（現名護市）から天仁屋間の道路改修が１９５８年に行われそれまでの急勾配が緩和されました。平良－高江間の道路も改修され、米海兵隊（マリン）が駐留していたことからマリン道と呼ばれました。また国頭の西と東の集落を結ぶ「横断道路」も、次々と工事が行われました。１９５８年に 源河―有銘線の工事が始まり、名護の二見と世冨慶を横断する１２２号線も開通しました。このように、東海岸では米軍キャンプ建設に伴う道路工事が進められました。北部一周道路は、相変わらず雨が降るとぬかるみがひどく、道路というより泥沼といった感じでした。車が立ち往生することも多く、車を引っ張り出すための牽引車が活躍していました。こうした状況は、復帰記念事業の一環として１９７１年から進められた「一周線道路改良舗装工事」を待つまで続きました。」
