中文：駐加拿大代表處曾大使厚仁本(11)月8日應邀出席加拿大智庫「麥唐納勞里埃研究所」（Macdonald-Laurier Institute, MLI）舉辦「台灣與印太區域」午餐演講會擔任主講，與會貴賓包括加、美、日、澳、捷克、德國、法國、韓國、印度、菲律賓及歐盟等多達10個國家及國際組織之官員使節、智庫學者及加國國會議員助理，全場座無虛席，迴響熱烈。

曾大使演說特別透過回顧中共二十大會議內容，闡述台灣與印太區域關係，從外交、經濟、軍事及安全各大面向，解讀習近平政治報告，分析其第三任期內中國政經局勢可能發展方向、對印太區域之影響，進而延伸彰顯台灣在該區域捍衛民主自由角色。曾大使演說結束後開放問答，現場提問踴躍，就中國軍事擴張威脅及印太區域情勢積極討論交流。

MLI為加國重要且具影響力智庫，歷年來多次邀請駐加拿大代表處參與會議、論壇，雙方互動友好。本次辦理「台灣與印太區域」研討會，首次邀請我駐加代表全程主講並與各國駐加使節交流問答，別具意義。
English: November 8, 2022 at a Macdonald-Laurier roundtable on “Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific”

Representative Harry Tseng was invited to a Macdonald-Laurier Institute roundtable on “Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific” as a keynote speaker. The event was well attended by Canadian officials, MLI senior scholars and experts, and diplomats from the United States, Japan, Australia, the Czech Republic, Germany, France, India, the Philippines, and the European Union
Representative Tseng started by looking at what is happening in China and what it means for the world. He conducted an overview of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, analyzing the implications of Xi Jinping's political report for the development of China's political and economic situation, its impact on the Indo-Pacific region, and, by extension, Taiwan’s role in defending democracy and freedom in the region. A Q&A session followed the keynote speech, in which representatives from the diplomatic corps raised various questions and had a lively discussion.

MLI is an important and influential think tank in Canada. Over the years, MLI has invited the representative TECO in Canada to participate in numerous conferences and forums. This is the first time a TECO Representative is invited to deliver a keynote speech and exchange views with members of the diplomatic corps.
