| Description |
中文（臺灣）：相傳配天宮創建於清康熙二十六年（1687年）。據說有位東石半月庄人士：林馬，篤信媽祖，每年均遠赴外地的媽祖廟參拜，由於旅程十分艱辛，因此在這年自湄州迎回媽祖神像，以在家中祭拜。迎回神像的回程，林馬經過朴子溪南岸朴（樸）樹下的茶棚，便歇腳休息，而附近居民得知此事，商請停留幾天，讓民眾可以參拜媽祖，可是數日後，當林馬欲啟程返家，神像卻變得沉重無法移動，擲筊問卜之下，神明表示永遠鎮守在此，於是民眾隨即搭建小廟祭祀；剛好廟旁有棵樸仔樹，所以作為廟名，稱作「樸樹宮」。之後聚落以本宮為中心向外發展，故朴子舊稱「樸仔腳」，即是得名於此。
「樸樹宮」後來更名為「配天宮」，原因年代眾說紛紜，根據較可信的說法是：清同治四年（1865年）重修工程落成時，廟方董事將廟名取意「配享千秋馨香、功參天地造化」而更名。 |
