| Description |
中文（臺灣）：「石牌」名稱一詞由來，乃日人當年為紀念開路成績，由西鄉菊次郎廳長於文山郡、宜蘭廳界，即現今北宜公路台北、宜蘭縣界公園旁，立石碑以為紀念，行旅至此便以「石牌」稱呼。石碑原刻「湖底嶺開路碑」篆額「平塹雲開」，碑文記述當年開路艱辛之過程，但1962年宜蘭縣第四任縣長林才添於原碑背面刻勒「金面大觀」四字，1965年第五任宜蘭縣長陳進東，更將原碑正面碑文磨掉，另提刻「亢懷千古」，使原碑的歷史原貌蕩然無存。 |
