中文：致贈高木波惠老師（108歲）感謝狀側記一2017.7.26

高木波惠（女）熊本縣玉名市出生，今年108歲，戰前（1929至1939）在台中市烏日公學校（國民小學）擔任國語教師，她的學生子弟現在都90歲以上高齡，多人已逝世。去年由台中市政府與日本朝日新聞合作，實現了遠距視訊會議的對話，高木老師與學生們相隔70餘年見面重逢，恍如隔世；隔空哭成一團畫面，至今猶印象深刻。
高木老師從彰化鹿港小學開始至台北北一女中，與辜振甫姊姊是同班、同校同年級的摯友，辜家至今仍與她有密切交往。姪女黃辜杏苑每年必從台灣遠赴玉名市探訪、致贈壽匾「壽比南山」及墨寶、照片等。
今日駐福岡辦事處處長戎義俊偕昨天剛抵任的總務部長洪臨梂開了兩個小時車抵高木老師家中，代表台灣政府致贈感謝狀及禮品。玉名市役所及朝日新聞、熊本日日新聞、ひまわり電視台派員採訪報導及錄影。高木老師還用台語：「ㄌㄨㄛ、ㄌㄞˋㄌㄨㄛ、ㄌㄞˋ」）謝謝，謝謝」，表達謝忱。她雖躺臥在床上但精神尚佳，意識清楚。女兒高木惠子78歲，兒子高木保明68歲，經常隨侍床邊盡孝。惠子是「灣生」出生至6歲在台中渡過，拉著我的手，邊走邊唱：「三民主義，吾黨所宗、、、貫徹始終。」一字不差，字正腔圓。
據稱，每年高木老師學生的孫子都會從台中到玉名市探訪慰問。這種台日間民間的情誼，根深蒂固，綿遠流長，歷久彌新。難怪台日關係如此密切。
戎處長應要求留下墨蹟：「縁は異なもの味なもの，日台兩國の縁を絆として、大切にしましょう！」。譯成中文；「緣份是很奇特又味道雋永的東西；台日兩國的緣份成為聯索，讓我們一起珍惜吧！」。人與人之間，地區與地區間，甚至國與國之間，就因某種契機而結緣，以致緊密的聯結在一起。
