Description
中文：這批相片為台灣新生報記者於1979年3月15日拍攝，主題為水源快速道路興建工程。臺北市長李登輝由工務局長成堅、財政局長葛培保、主計處長魏剛及新建工程處長蕭藏文等陪同巡視臺北市快速道路系統中的水源路拓築工程。

水源路在清代仍是農地，日治時期修築堤防並設置道路，當時道路東起羅斯福路三段，西至南機場附近。1964年政府開始修築中正橋以西的堤防，1975年3月利用原有堤防築棧橋開闢富民街（今富民路），並在棧橋下規劃中央市場分貨場，也就是今天的第一果菜批發市場。
1973年臺北市政府工務局新建工程處開始辦理快速道路建設計畫，建構臺北市區快速道路路網。1977年起分段拓寬水源路並加高堤防達二百年洪水頻率位置，於1980年完工，成為臺北市內環快速道路系統，但此時水源快速道路只通至師大路、汀州路口。水源快速道路工程第二階段從師大路向南延伸，與新店環河路連接，於1992年通車。水源路配合環河南北路、洲美快速道路等共同構成臺北南北運輸的重要動脈。

我們今天所熟知的道路其實是在長久的歷史中一段段興建完成，這些道路除了帶給我們交通上的便利外，也可以是我們理解自身歷史的重要切入點。
