PDBデータベースより酵素ja:レニンPDBファイルをDeepViewでイメージ化する。MS Paintでpng化。

基質(阻害剤)が結合する前(2ren)後(1smr)での酵素reninの立体構造変化を示す。酵素は基質が結合することにより自らの立体構造を変化させる。

これを酵素の誘導適合と呼ぶ。誘導適合により酵素の活性中心が機能を発現しうる位置に移動するので、このペプチド鎖の立体構造の変化を活性中心とは別の位置に物質が結合することで活性中心の機能を制御することができる。この様な形式の酵素の制御をja:アロステリック効果と呼ぶ。

いずれもX線結晶回折による三次元構造。リボン表示は酵素renin、マゼンタに着色された分子はラットのアンジオテンシノーゲン由来のペプチド性renin阻害剤。

ペプチドを表すリボンの色はペプチドN末端(青)からC末端(赤)へとスペクトル順(虹の色順)に着色されている。
