[edit]Description.PLAY BALL! NAVFAC Far East renovates Yokosuka fields (13212639524).jpg | Commander, Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka Capt. David Glenister, left, throws the first pitch to NAVFAC Far East's Public Works Department Yokosuka Facilities Engineering and Acquis...ition Division Project Manager Sirron L. Vessels on one of FLEACT Yokosuka's two newly-renovated softball fields, March 7. The $1.2 million renovation replaced two earthen fields with FIFA-rated artificial turf and included the installation of a drainage system, increasing the fields' durability and enabling MWR to host all-weather activities. "As a softbally player, I was very excited to take on this project to improve the fields," said Vessels. His thoughts on being the first person to catch a pitch on the new fields? "Please don't let me drop the ball." He didn't. (U.S. Navy photo by Izumi Morine, NAVFAC Far East Public Affairs) |
