Summary

[edit]
Description

Taken on Saturday afternoon (8th February) for the Project 52 group.

Nick Griffin, the leader of the far right group British National Party (BNP) and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the North West came to Wythenshawe to give an interview for their own channel.

The party's ideology has been described as fascist by political scientists and commentators.

High-profile groups and people including The Royal British Legion and David Cameron have criticised the BNP, and BNP membership is prohibited for people of certain occupations.

It restricted membership to "indigenous British" people until a 2010 legal challenge to its constitution.

The BNP's policies include the restoration of the death penalty for paedophiles, terrorist and anyone convicted of pre-meditated murders, and repatriation of people of any ethnic origin, whether or not they were born in the UK.

Mr Griffin became the leader in 1999 after John Tyndall, founder of the far-right group in 1982 lost leadership and in 2009 became an MEP for the North West.

The by-election for Wythenshawe and Sale East is nearing the end and the results will be announced soon.

The MP from the BNP is Eddy O'Sullivan has allegedly posted racist comments on Facebook
