Name: Lod - the historic train station
Description: The British station was opened in 1917 as part of the transformation of Lod into the national transportation hub, by building an airport, a train station, and arterial roads passing through Lod.

שם: לוד - תחנת הרכבת ההיסטורית
תיאור: התחנה הבריטית נפתחה בשנת 1917 כחלק מהפיכת לוד למוקד התחבורה הארצי, על ידי בניית נמל תעופה, תחנת רכבת, וכבישים עורקיים העוברים בלוד.
הערות: בשנות ה -40 של המאה ה-20, עם חיבור מסילת הברזל בין ארץ ישראל ללבנון לביירות ודמשק, תחנת לוד הייתה העמוסה והפעילה ביותר בארץ ישראל בימים ההם. עברו בה נוסעים מקנטרה, מירושלים, מיפו ומחיפה ונוסעים החליפו רכבות לכוונים השונים. בלוד עברו גדודי צבא בריטיים, ראשי מדינות, ביניהם: בנימין זאב הרצל, וילהלם השני, קיסר גרמניה, היילה סלאסי קיסר אתיופיה, הלורד בלפור, גנרל אלנבי, וינסטון צ'רצ'יל, דוד בן-גוריון והברון רוטשילד. ב-26 בנובמבר 2020 יצאה מרציף התחנה הבריטית הרכבת האחרונה, בניין התחנה נשמר.
