תיאור: קיבוץ צאלים - תחילת הדרך
הערות: צֶאֶלִים - קיבוץ במערב הנגב הצפוני, משתייך לתנועה הקיבוצית. נקרא על שם עצי השיטים הנפוצים באזור, שזוהו בטעות כעצי צאלים מקראיים. נוסד ב 1947 על ידי גרעיני תנועת נוער ממזרח אירופה ומצפון אפריקה. היישוב הוקם בהמשך למגמה שהנחתה את ייסוד אחד-עשר היישובים בנגב. במלחמת העצמאות שכנה במקום מפקדת הגדוד השמיני של חטיבת הנגב. לאחר המלחמה עברו במרץ 1949 כל חברי צאלים, אל הקיבוץ כפר החורש שליד נצרת, שסבל מעזיבת תושבים. למקום הגיעה במקומם קבוצה של עולים צעירים, ניצולי השואה ממזרח אירופה, ויישבו את צאלים.
