Summary
[edit]Description1027 CE Jaina temple inscription, grant of villages, Telangana.jpg |
English: This Kannada inscription belongs to the Digambara Jain tradition. It is from samvat 949, and records a gift of land to support the Jain priests and the temple. This is similar to land grants made to Hindu temples. The inscription mentions the reign of Jayasimha II, and that he was appealed to support this specific temple by someone named Baisavoja.
The relief at top shows a Jina sitting in the traditional yoga asana. This inscribed stone is now at the Telangana state museum, Hyderabad. |
