| Description |
Looking South from the Froom Street bridge. This escorted wide load has just passed under the Crosse Hall Lane bridge on the M61. The standard motorway lane width in the UK 12 feet. The Volvo FM is is straddling the white line between lanes 1 and 2 so legally it needs an escort vehicle. I would estimate the mobile home on the back of the truck to be 12 feet. I am not familiar with the company name "Harpur" on the truck. After a bit of on line research tells me that Harpur transport is an English company registered in the Republic of Ireland. Another source says that Harpur is based in Strabane, County Tyrone, Ulster. The registration plate shows the truck as being registered in the City of Londonderry (or Derry). I am more inclined to think that Harpur is in fact an Ulster rather than a Republic company. If anybody can set the record straight I would appreciate your comments. |
