Summary

[edit]
Description Washington Army National Guard Col. Bryan Grenon, commander of the 81st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), replaces the unit insignia patches on the leadership of 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry Regiment, Oregon Army National Guard, as Col. Gregory Day, commander of the 82nd Brigade Troop Command, looks on during a patching ceremony, Oct. 16, in Bend, Oregon. Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Zacher (left) and Lt. Col. John Qualls (center), 1-82nd Cavalry Squadron commander, were the first to receive the 2nd Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia to symbolize the unitâs transfer to the 81st SBCT and the Army's total force initiative to partner active duty and National Guard units. The squadron will remain part of the Oregon Army National Guard and retain its reconnaissance mission while gaining new Stryker equipment due to the restructuring of the Army National Guard.
