Description 171020-N-WO404-180 NAPLES, Italy (Oct. 20, 2017) Adm. Michelle Howard is presented with the Defense Distinguished Service Medal by U.S. Army Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, commander, U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe during a change of command ceremony held at the Allied Joint Force Command auditorium in Naples, Italy, Oct. 20, 2017. During the ceremony, Adm. James Foggo III relieved Howard as commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples and commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa. U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, headquartered in Naples, Italy, oversees joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, to enable enduring relationships and increase vigilance and resilience in Europe and Africa.
