Description
English: This painting is the Kangra style of miniatures, a chitra style that developed in the Himalayan foothills.
  • Painter: unknown Indian artist
  • Year created: 1780 CE
  • Medium: Opaque watercolor on paper
  • Size: 21 cm x 15 cm approximately
  • Provenance: Douglas Barret collection, acquired by Kronos collections in 2015 (private, but is a promised gift to The Metropolitan Museum of Art)
  • Notes: A scene from the Ramayana epic. Rama has a thorn in his foot. He is lying in Sita's lap, while his brother Lakshmana removes the thorn.
