Summary[edit]

Description
English: Loking east down K Street NW at the northwest corner and north facade of 1800 I Street NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Also known as International Square, this building has vertically inverted setbacks above its southeast and northwest corners (visible in this image). The separation between the first 1976 structure and the third 1980 structure is visible on the 9th, 10th, and 11th floors by a space. The building originally occupied just the eastern half of the block (between 18th and 19th Streets NW, between I and K Streets NW). This 11-story, Modernist building was completed in November 1976. It featured a ninth-floor balcony with non-structural columns, interior atrium, and ground level setback retail concourse. A second building on the southwest corner of the block opened in 1979, and a third building (pictured here) opened on the northwest corner of the block in 1980. All three buildings were designed by architect Vlastimil Koubek and constructed to appear as if they were a single structure, and they are now linked internally to be so.
