中文（臺灣）：本文論述1931年舉辦的「高雄港勢展覽會」，此會以港口與海洋為主軸，定下海洋高雄、工商港都的基調。
1868年後，日本全力西化，舉辦博覽會是呈現現代化國家「進步」的重要手段之一。高雄港勢展覽會就有宣揚殖民經驗、展現強大國威、推動經貿交流、開發觀光資源等多重意義。日本殖民政府此時期的建設奠定現代高雄的基礎，一躍成為全臺灣最大的港口和第二大都市，此次展覽會所展現的內容和氣勢，是全體高雄住民意志的總驗收，也是殖民當局的成果展。主辦單位以港口與海洋為主軸，舉辦北港媽祖繞境也隱含海神的庇佑，點出海洋高雄、工商港都的特質。值得注意的是，臺灣人在此次展覽會一如既往屬於附屬邊緣地位，故向當局提出抗議，反對這種由上而下的宣傳把戲。 從上述概述可知，日本殖民舉辦展覽會的主要目的，但殖民地人民對於展覽會的感受，也呈現了人民對政府宣傳的具體感受。 |
