Accesson: 2004-71-27 Award, Medal, Civil War, Navy 2.18" H x 1.43" W Medal, Civil War, Navy, serial# 179. Medal awarded to Ensign Lewis R. Hamersley who served on the Aroostook. The obverse of the medal has a depiction of the battle between the Monitor and the Merrimac on the 9th of March 1862. The medal was authorized on the 27th of June 1908. Collection of Curator Branch, Naval History and Heritage Command. |
