Description
Deutsch: Die Baureihe E 42 (ab 1970 Baureihe 242) der Deutschen Reichsbahn war eine Elektrolokomotive, die eine für den Güterverkehr und langsamen Personenverkehr abgewandelte Version der DR-Baureihe E 11 darstellte. Bei der Deutschen Bahn AG waren diese Lokomotiven noch kurze Zeit als DB-Baureihe 142 im Einsatz. Einige Lokomotiven wurden in die Schweiz verkauft und als Ae 417, Ae 476 oder Ae 477 bezeichnet. Die Baureihe ist auch unter dem Spitznamen Holzroller bekannt.
English: The class E 42 (from 1970 class 242) of the Deutsche Reichsbahn was an electric locomotive that was a modified version of the DR class E 11 for freight traffic and slow passenger traffic. At Deutsche Bahn AG, these locomotives were still in use for a short time as DB class 142. Some locomotives were sold to Switzerland and designated as Ae 417, Ae 476, or Ae 477. The series is also known by the nickname wooden scooters.
