[edit]Description2014-08-07 Xylobotryum Pat 442179.jpg |
Xylobotryum Pat. Image location: Ibarra Province, Ecuador I thought this was a Xylaria at first glance. But something is amiss. Note that micrope shots, two-celled ascospores, and the apical apparatus of the asci did not stain in melzers. As far as I can tell, the spores are 10-20 um, but this is far from certain, didn´t have a reticle. Apologies for the poor quality, the light source for the microscope was literally my headlamp jammed under the field condenser, and my camera is perpetually fogged up here at the reserve.
