Summary[edit]

Description
English: Looking northward along the Spanish River from the bridge that carries the Trans-Canada Highway (Ontario Highway 17) over it, in the township of Nairn and Hyman, Ontario, Canada, as seen on a July 2017 evening. Said to be named after a tribe of Spanish-speaking Ojibwe people encountered by earlier explorers (which they apparently learned from a captive Spanish woman in their midst), the river in fact flows through what is today one of the most heavily Francophone regions of Ontario.
