Grande manifestation "Belfort ville morte" ayant eu lieu en soutien aux salariés d'Alstom, le 24 septembre 2016 à Belfort. Celle-ci a eu pour but de dénoncer la fermeture du site Alstom de Belfort annoncée pour 2018 (450 emplois en jeu). 3500 personnes selon la police (5000 selon la mairie) ont défilé dans les rues de Belfort, de la place de la Résistance à la préfecture. Les commerçants ont été appelés à fermer leur boutique de 14H à 15H en solidarité avec les travailleurs d'Alstom. 10000 autocollants "Aux Alsthommes" ont été distribués aux manifestants. Les élus locaux, quel que soit leur sensibilité politique, ont appelé cet événement "l'union sacré".
