| Description |
Deutsch: Das Zeller Becken ist die Verbindung zwischen dem Saalach- und dem Salzachtal. Das Zentrum bildet der etwa knapp vier Kilometer lange, gut einen Kilometer breite und 68 Meter tiefe Zeller See, woran der Altstadtkern im Westen sowie der Stadtteil Thumersbach im Osten, Erlberg im Südosten und Schüttdorf im Süden grenzen. Nach Süden verschmilzt das Becken mit dem West–Ost verlaufenden Salzachtal, im Norden ist es nur durch eine sanfte Talwasserscheide vom Saalfeldener Becken getrennt, sodass sich ein gemeinsamer Talraum ergibt, der zu den größten inneralpinen Talbecken gehört.
