Description
English: Struggle and Martyrdom commemorative plaque in Olkusz (near the crossroad of Mickiewicza street and Route 94). 10 Polish hostages were murdered there by Nazi-German occupants on 16 July 1940. A total of 20 hostages were murdered that day in Olkusz. Their execution lead to the events known as „Bloody Wednesday in Olkusz” (July 31, 1940).
Polski: Tablica przy skrzyżowaniu ul. Mickiewicza w Olkuszu i drogi krajowej 94, upamiętniająca 10 polskich zakładników rozstrzelanych w tym miejscu przez niemieckich okupantów w dniu 16 lipca 1940. Łącznie 20 polskich zakładników zostało tego dnia rozstrzelanych w Olkuszu. Ich egzekucja poprzedziła wydarzenia znane jako "krwawa środa w Olkuszu" (31 lipca 1940).
