Target chamber, linear particle accelerator, photo remix. Columbia University/NEVIS Labs. Joshua Schreier/cubist_debris

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Accelerated particles end their journeys at the target stage. Target stages take many forms and sizes depending on the experiment and data to be collected. This target chamber is designed to contain stages that allow scientists to model conditions on planetary surfaces close o the sun. A reassembled view of one part of target chamber. Insofar as astrophysicists look at many data sets from different sources to develop their hypostheses and concepts of the cosmos, so too, the remixed image of the accelerator apparatus is another way of viewing the laboratory environment.
