ไทย: บึงพลาญชัย ตั้งอยู่บริเวณกลางเมืองร้อยเอ็ด ถือเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของจังหวัด มีลักษณะเป็นเกาะอยู่กลางบึงน้ำขนาดใหญ่ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 2 แสนตารางเมตร เป็นบึงที่เกิดจากพระยาสุนทรเทพกิจจารักษ์ (ทอง จันทรางศุ) ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดร้อยเอ็ดคนที่ 3 นำชาวบ้าน 40,000 คน ขุดขึ้นมาเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2469 เป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนหย่อนใจ ตกแต่งเป็นสวนไม้ดอกขนาดใหญ่ มีพันธุ์ไม้ต่าง ๆ ร่มรื่น และในบึงน้ำมีปลาชนิดต่าง ๆ หลายพันธุ์ มีเรือจักรยานน้ำและเรือพายไว้บริการประชาชนพายเล่นในบึง นอกจากนั้นยังใช้เป็นสถานที่จัดงานเทศกาลของจังหวัด รวมทั้งจัดมหรสพต่าง ๆ |
