Summary

[edit]
Description While looking around the Riverside Drive Historic District in Covington to scout out the real-life location of a school project, I came across this lovely Victorian-era Second Empire-style Mansion, one of the many beautiful homes in the neighborhood. The Riverside Drive Historic District was created in the 1970s to preserve a set of 19th Century houses and dwellings that were in danger of being demolished for a new floodwall, parking lots, apartments, offices, and condos, as per the plans of the city of Covington, Kentucky. A group of local residents saved the district from demolition, and today it is an example of development that once existed along the riverfront in both Covington and Newport that has since been lost in both cities, due to urban renewal and redevelopment in the mid-20th Century. Today, it is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the Greater Cincinnati Region, and is full of restored historic dwellings and sweeping views of the Cincinnati skyline.
