| Description |
In somewhat difficult conditions as facing into the sun, a one off capture for what will no doubt be a one off visit to Fulpmes. This marks the end of the Stubai Valley Railway or Stubaitalbahn which is just over 18kms from Innsbruck Stubaitalbahnhof and as such appears in the national timetable. Metre gauge, the line was opened in 1904 powered by AC supply. In 1983, voltage was changed over to DC. In 1996, the line was joined up at the Innsbruck end to the city tram system and nowadays conveniently starts outside the main Haupbahnhof with another stop at Westbahn. Stubaitalbahn then merged in with Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe and shares the same fleet as the rest of the city street tram network. Seen at the terminus of Fulpmes on 30 January 2020 is set no. 326 on the 15:32 Fulpmes to Innsbruck Hbf. With a journey time of over an hour and only one an hour frequency, the local bus (which departs from the town centre about 5 to 10 minutes walk away) takes a mere 30 minutes back to Innsbruck Hbf utilising the fast toll road. |
